Susy Schultz is an editor, digital journalist, educator, writer and strategist. Her past titles include managing editor, digital editor, investigative editor, associate publisher, reporter, columnist and editorial writer. Her current title is president of the Community Media Workshop, an organization founded on the belief that our Democracy functions best when its people understand the importance of a free and strong press; and when the press understands a complete story, must be filled with diverse voices, not just those of the powerful.
She’s worked for newspapers, a wire service, websites and magazines covering politics, health care, business and parenting for the Chicago Sun-Times, The Chicago Reporter, Chicago Tribune, New York Times Syndicate and Chicago Parent.
Susy teaches at Columbia College Chicago and is vice president of JAWS. She has also worked in government, academia and the foundation world. Susy is fluent in Spanish, lives in Chicago, is AWJ Chicago chapter’s founding president, an IRE member as well as a wife, mother, stepmom and runner, even though she is slow but determined.Twitter: @Susy
