Anna Holmes

Anna Holmes is an editor and writer and the founder of the very popular and award-winning website Jezebel.com, which she created in 2007 and ran until her departure in 2010. Anna's work has appeared in such publications as Salon, Newsweek, Entertainment Weekly, The New Yorker.com and Glamour magazine. In  2012, she was the recipient of Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Journalism Mirror Award for Commentary in Traditional Media for her essays and op-eds in the NY Times and Washington Post. Her first book, a cultural history of the female breakup letter titled Hell Hath No Fury: Women's Letters From the End of the Affair, was published in 2002. Her second book, The Book of Jezebel, based on the site of the same name, was published in October 2013 by Grand Central Publishing. Anna has appeared as a commentator and panelist at such events as SXSW, Netroots Nation, Women in the World, the Online News Association, TEDx, and the National Council of Jewish Women Conference, where she received the first annual "Woman of Vision" award. She is a regular guest at universities like the University of Pennsylvania, Syracuse University and NYU and on media outlets like NPR's "All Things Considered," CNN, MSNBC, The "Today" Show and American Public Media's "Marketplace." A California native and graduate of New York University, where she received a B.A. in journalism in 1995, Anna lives in New York where she is currently working as an editor at Fusion's digital arm and as a columnist for the New York Times Sunday Book Review.
