Claudia Nunez is founder and director of Migrahack, which brings journalists, coders and community members together to build data visualizations around important immigration issues. Claudia has directed Migrahacks in Chicago, Los Angeles and Mexico City. Her project, Migrahack, a project of the Institute for Justice & Journalism, was developed when she was a 2012 John S. Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University. As an award-winning reporter, Claudia specialized in immigration and U.S.-Mexican border issues, working for National Geographic, La Opinion, the largest Spanish-language daily newspaper in the U.S., and the Mexican States Editors Association. In 2008, she was named Latina Journalist of the Year by the National Association of Hispanic Publications. In addition to her work directing Migrahack, she is the Spanish-language editor for Human Rights Watch.
