Marisa Buchanan is senior producer in the NBC News Specials unit. In this role, she helps lead special news productions on NBC and MSNBC including political debates, conventions and elections; major planned news events and live breaking news reports.  She currently supervises the cross platform editorial project looking at poverty in America, “In Plain Sight.” Previously Buchanan was a producer for “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams."  As a producer she covered stories on a range of subjects and was a member of several field coverage teams for NBC News notably the tsunami in Indonesia, and Hurricane Katrina. Starting in 2010, she developed the editorial cross platform vision for NBC's "Education Nation." The scope of the project included broadcast pieces, live town halls, interactive digital case studies and a three-day conference and multi-media event on education at Rockefeller Plaza and the New York Public Library.
