As VP of Content, Michelle Holmes oversees the editorial operations of Alabama Media Group, which includes the state's largest news website, AL.com, The Birmingham News, Mobile's Press-Register, The Huntsville Times, the Mississippi Press, and gulflive.com. On her watch, she's launched the Alabama Investigative Journalism Lab, a forum for collaboration around significant journalism. Before coming to Birmingham in 2013, she was the Director of Business Development for Ustream.TV, where she worked with news companies around the world to develop strategy and revenue around live content. She was a proud recipient of a 2012 John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship at Stanford University where she spent a year focusing on journalistic innovation. She previously held roles as a newspaper editor in the Chicago area. She serves on the Board of Visitors of the University of Alabama School of Communication and Information Sciences.
